Youth

Youth at First Presbyterian are an active and vital part of our church family, participating fully in worship, leadership, service, and fellowship. Our middle and high school students grow in faith together as they explore what it means to follow Christ in today’s world.

Faith Formation

Our youth have a variety of opportunities for faith formation that go beyond traditional Sunday School. Through discussion-based gatherings, Bible exploration, and relevant lessons that connect Scripture to real-life experiences, students are encouraged to ask questions, share insights, and deepen their relationship with God. These learning experiences are designed to help youth build a resilient, thoughtful faith that continues to grow as they mature.

Fellowship & Community

Youth gather regularly from 4:30-6:00 PM on Sunday evenings for times of connection, laughter, and support. Gatherings often include a shared meal, games, service projects, and meaningful conversations about living as young Christians in a complex and changing world. Fellowship helps our youth form lasting friendships within the church and find encouragement in community as they live out their faith together.

Service & Mission

Service is central to who we are as followers of Christ. Throughout the year, youth participate in mission opportunities—both local and beyond. From helping with community service projects to traveling on mission trips, our youth experience firsthand what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world. These experiences foster empathy, compassion, and a heart for justice.

Ventures & Retreats

Special youth ventures are offered throughout the year, including retreats, conferences, and mission trips. Middle school youth travel to the Massanetta Middle School Conference in Virginia, while high school students attend the Montreat Youth Conference in North Carolina. These gatherings provide powerful opportunities for worship, reflection, and connection with other Presbyterian youth from across the country.

Music Ministry

Youth are encouraged to share their gifts in the church’s vibrant music ministries. Whether through choir, instrumental ensembles, or participation in worship leadership, young people can express their faith through music and creativity. Involvement in music deepens worship and helps youth discover new ways to serve and praise God together.
